Radical Faeries

William was part of the early Radical Faeries attending the first gathering in Benson, Arizona, August 31- September 2, 1979. He brought that wisdom and sense of community back to San Francisco in the collective living experiments he was part of. In the photo above, he is second from the right, next to Harry Hay (in chair), who was instrumental in the Radical Faerie Movement and has been called a “founder of the modern gay movement.”

Mica Kindman who co-founded with William the intentional gay household “Touchstone” in November 1982. Mica died in 1991.

Buzz Bense speaking in Heart Circle. Buzz was a dear friend and collaborator of William’s over the years until Buzz’s passing in 2016.
